This is my blog! I am a british 17 year old who is unschooled and sarcastic. I talk about politics, society and I rant often. I just wanted to have a voice and a chance to get my opinion out there.

Whovians and Philosophy
Hi,
Do you think that the things you do and the TV shows you watch have a big effect on the way you see the world? I found a YouTube video about the idea that Doctor Who is a religion:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Csjr8bXvPw
Also how have programs and characters like The Doctor effected individual people?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-WtqAD6kMU
Now I am a big Doctor who fan/ Whovian. so... beware this post will be biased.
Doctor who is a hero and to quote (possibly misquote) head writer Steven Moffat "I think The Doctor would be very surprised to find that he is the main character." So doctor Who is everyone's favourite hero but he hasten just changed the lives of his companions, the dedicated fans have had there life's changed by him too. All about Whovains:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_ibW6a5oFc
So some people live for the doctor while others just enjoy the odd episode. But the point is how does it change your life?
For many geeks, The Doctor stands for being strong and the geeks and weirdoes are the people who will change the world. The Doctor is all about hope. But as it says in the first link the Whoniverse (Doctor Who universe) has a philosophy and a way of looking at the world that sets it apart from other stories and TV. People who watch the show often take on the ideas and theories of Doctor Who as their own, therefore the Doctor has given them a way of looking at the world, a philosophy that looks at the world in a particular way.
Not all TV shows do that although if you think about it everything you watch has some kind of message or a way of seeing things that will effect or change your own. People learn from everything they see and do including watching TV.
What other shows change your views on life? For me Star Trek, and Firefly are good ones as they are Sci-Fi so they are all about the universe and they all have theories about the world that people can take on board as philosophies for their own lives.
Think about what TV, Films, Books and other stories have effected you?
Doctor who for me is not just about the episodes, it is also about the behind the scenes. Doctor who was one of the first BBC shows to be produced by a woman, the theme tune was mostly made by a woman (Delia Derbyshire) and the original director of doctor who was one of the first Indian Directors at the BBC:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Verity_Lambert
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waris_Hussein
Whovians:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOi3nawBxwE
So Doctor Who has changed my life, I am more hopeful about the future than I used to be, I watch the stars every night before I go to bed, (Although that is more to do with the fact that I like stars!) and I love blue police boxes. But more than that I see the world in a more exciting way and I believe that many of the scientific and philosophical opinions and theories in Doctor Who ether are very possible or at least have a good point.

I want to be different and unique just like everyone else - and Questions
Hi,
At some point in everyone's life they have done something that has no other purpose except to make themselves look cooler/more interesting/quirkier. And many people do this every day, playing the newest songs wearing the coolest fashions etc. Being a teenager in 2013 I know all about this. but does everyone do this? many people restrict this kind of behaviour to hipsters and fashion victims. YouTuber Charlie McDonnell said this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fYA8cSQB_rA
It is interesting that he doesn't seem to believe that everyone sells out to fit in, only hipsters etc. But Every time he makes a video or uses modern slang he probably thinks about what other people will think of him and acts in a way he believes people will approve of. People do little things to fit in every day, whether it's agreeing with someone when they say they like certain music or watching a TV program just so you can understand what people are talking about when they discuss it. Do you think it's worth it? Just for one nod of approval, or another lie so you can fit in more easily. I am not saying everyone does it all the time but most people must do this at least once in their life, probably a lot more than they think. fitting in is hard even for the most 'normal' people. Vivian Stanshall once said "I want to be different and unique just like every one else." What he probably meant was, everyone says they want to be different but only up to a point. No one wants to be so outrageously weird that pretending to be normal or even acceptably different would be being themselves. In other words no one wants to be so different that being themselves would mean really, really weird. So weird that they wouldn't fit in at all or maybe they think they wouldn't have any friends. This is an older blog post of mine that illustrates this point in more detail.
http://utterlyinvisibleteengirl.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/why-i-write-this-blog.html
I talk about being different and not fitting in a lot, mostly because I consider myself to be a bit unusual and I have always had trouble fitting in. I am a 15 year old girl who is interested in politics, religion and philosophy and I am basically a geek so being normal has never really been an option. I tried to fit in lots of times. But for me, lying to fit in is worse than being weird, and I am not a very good liar.
Most people have lied to fit in at some point in their lives and admitting it is not easy. But whether or not you decide that lying or being outcast is the easiest or the most important way of living, it is an individual decision.
Obviously not everyone has to work that hard to fit in, to some people that is just the way they work. And that is great, they are lucky, but for me I am stuck being different, and although in the past (and still sometimes now.) I wish I could fit in more easily, I wouldn't have it any other way.
In 'The Invention Of Hugo Cabret' They say that everyone has a place in the world like the cogs of a clock, there are no spare parts everyone has a place, A role if you like. If this is true I don't think mine involves being 'Just like everyone else'.
I will leave you with a question to think about: Where do you fit into the world?
That's all for now.

Sorted!
Hi,
So many people believe that feminism isn't applicable to the modern world. I am a feminist (Not the crazy man hating kind) and I believe that so long as women feel the need to put on makeup instead of just using it to express themselves, and men feel the need to work out just to look the way they think they are expected to look. we have a long way to go. feminism is about being equal. this doesn't mean that women and men should always be treated exactly the same, for example if you want someone to play a character in a film, and the film has more male/female characters in it, your not going to get female/male actors to play the opposite sex just to be equal. that would be silly! the point of feminism is that if a woman and a man go for a job interview then the person that is hired, will only be hired because they are better qualified not because of their sex. there are still glass ceilings and feminism is still an issue. many people believe feminism is a thing of the past with war time suffragette, and women throwing themselves under horses. this is modern day feminism:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHNBGjBtBPg&list=TLKa_BKxuUoKBH8jQ8kE-1MUCs1goZPEYu
And glass ceilings:
http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/13/the-glass-ceiling-illustrated-in-one-meet-the-staff-web-page-4186032/
So although many women and men think that feminism is Sorted It's not!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzwcF-Vno14&list=PL7W9rLxGqiophlAXPpyEx-hC31VeyfwHD
So what about the people who are effected by this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6LjMyg7-ho
Yep so maybe feminism isn't Sorted. The best thing we can do in this situation is to form our own opinions and beliefs! to do this we need all the information. usually I give you the information but today I will just give you the recourse and let you work it out. What if more people actually had an opinion? on anything!

I hope you can get all opinionated now.
thanks for listening to my rant!

Why I Write This Blog
Hi,
Yesterday I discovered that Googling lessinkyfingers brings my blog up at the top of the page! How cool is that. If you go on Google images then you can see pictures I have used on this blog. I was really surprised how professional it looked. Although I don't update my blog every week or write perfect posts I do put a lot of work into this and I am glad that people are interested in what I have to say. But at the same time many adults don't take me seriously. I am 15 and I am home educated. This means that many 'grown ups' probably find what I have to say silly (because of my age) uneducated (Because I am home educated) and they don't care what I think because I am not even old enough to vote yet. I don't know that's what they think but I have been dismissed because of at least one of these things in the past. I'm not saying it happens all the time or that all adults do this, but it happens enough for it to make a difference. My opinion and my views are not valued or considered just because I am young and Home educated. This happens a lot to people all over the world. people don't listen because they are: young/old/black/white/well educated/uneducated/just different. My Mum sent me this link:
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2013/10/30/12-year-old-suffragette-fires-back-at-nc-gov-for-voter-suppression-i-am-not-a-prop/
The girl from this link is frustrated just like me, and being heard is difficult whoever you are. But for people like me, people who don't want to speak to crowds or lead a revolution. People who just want to be heard and to help. We are not getting a voice. I know I refer to Disney a lot when I talk about being who you want to be and doing what you believe in, but in all seriousness this Disney message is a good one. But its not as easy as that. Because however hard people try they will always care what other people think. And being beaten up for being different isn't something you can just 'get on with' so you can be 'true to yourself'. I think that whoever wrote the Disney message about 'Being yourself no matter what.' can't have been that different or ever had to face a class full of other bored 10 year olds and explain why they are vegetarian. But then if you don't fight for what you believe in, there won't be anyone else to do it for you. I also don't believe that everyone has a person inside them who's the 'real you' and all you have to do is be true to yourself and you will be a good person. Sure there are many things people can't change about themselves, but many characteristics are habits. In other words they are breakable and not permanent characteristics.
So yes doing what you believe in is important, of course it is. But being who you are is easier said than done. Especially if you don't know who you are. I don't know who I am, but I know who I want to be. I will work on that.
Thanks for listening to my rant today.
Until the next time!

How People React To Home Education
Hi,
(I haven't done a blog post this personal before, but I have a point I want to make and the best way I can see to make it, is to refer to my personal experience.)
Home education is a very interesting subject, and I have been home educated for almost 5 years now; but accepting home education is difficult for the children, the parents and everyone else. To explain home education and my views on this I will give you a link to an earlier blog post I wrote, I think this is my best post yet since this is an important subject and writing this I felt I have had my say on home ed.
http://utterlyinvisibleteengirl.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/5-reasons-to-love-home-education-or-not.html
So just 5 years ago being home educated was the last thing I wanted. When my Mum first asked me about it I said, NO WAY! I thought that it would mean being constantly supervised and made to work extra hard. My Mum on the other hand first found out about home ed. when my cousins started it. They are very structured but my auntie thought it was great, and persuaded my parents, to read a book called Free Range Education. The link to the book:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Free-Range-Education-Home-Works/dp/1903458072
When my Dad bought the book my Mum read it and was fascinated. She researched the concept of home education until she was sure it was what she wanted for us all. Many of our friends and family have been opposed to the whole idea but because of my Mum we are now home educated and happy about it. My Dad quickly discovered it and soon I was telling all my friends. Some of them were supportive but most of them were unsure and sometimes even mean about it. I was shocked not only at my friends reaction but also the way their parents disapproved and there are still some people today who 'Are not supposed to hang out with me' because I am home schooled.
Without support from the people we knew Mum looked online, and for the first year of our home ed, we spent a lot of time talking to other home educators, swapping advice stories and support. We went to a weekly home education group and our day was reasonably structured as Mum encouraged us to do 'educational' things like workbooks. We watched documentaries and we did basic schedules keeping some sort of routine. The first 2 years were the hardest, Mum threatened to send us back to school a lot and I had nightmares about going back and about the time I spent there. I hadn't realised how stressed I was until I left. My eczema cleared up, I slept better, got ill less and I had more energy and less worries. after 2 years I hardly got any school dreams any more.
The process of becoming used to autonomous living and de-stressing is called deschooling.
It took us approximately 2 years.
People always judge quickly and I don't mind people disapproving of my education any more, but it is also none of their business how I choose to live my life, and how my Mum decides to educate her children. We haven't had such a bad time as other people, like the people who were really hurt by school or who have had unhelpful authorities and family. One thing I can say for this experience is I found out who my real friends are.
After almost 5 years I can only just now say that I don't feel that I need to constantly defend my education. I feel proud of it almost. I don't tell people I am Home educated when I first meet them, as I want them to judge me for myself not my education but I guess one day I will feel more comfortable with that too. For now I can say that I am happy enough with my life, and confident enough in my judgement and choice in education and lifestyle that I can proudly say 'I am Home Educated' and not feel that I have to justify it.
I hope many other home educated children (And their parents) can feel comfortable as I do, and I hope people will not hate us because we are different, but research it, and either change their mind and give us a chance, or challenge us with a reasoned argument.

Revolution and Voting. Delia Derbyshire
Hi,
So Russell Brand has been political. He said a lot of things in his interview with Jeremy Paxman, (People do tend to say 'things' in interviews) but the two 'things' that caught most peoples attention where 1. He has never voted and 2. He wants to start a revolution. lets talk about that.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGxFJ5nL9gg
People who have never voted / don't vote, often have their political complaints dismissed because 'How can they complain if they don't do anything about it e.g. vote?' But Russell Brand says that he doesn't vote because the voting system doesn't help him or people 'like him'. So he believes it would be pointless and that actually voting would be going along with a system he doesn't believe in.
When it comes to starting a revolution, he mentions the occupy movement. This was hardly given any press coverage. just like the selling of the NHS and the post office which where both sold off quietly after weeks of 'we are about to sell them off' they did it and didn't talk about it on the news until it had all blown over a bit. I am not a mad conspiracy theorist (I hope) but I think that they didn't mention those three events so know one would complain maybe. I haven't read this next link as thoroughly as I usually do but it is interesting.Mad conspiracy:
http://mentalfloss.com/article/33497/8-government-conspiracy-theories-and-how-they-could-be-right
Interesting recent conspiracy theory:
http://www.thefarrellreport.net/files-report/THE%20FINAL%20REPORT.pdf
OK so if we are being constantly watched or if the government has no clue what they are doing I think it is still important to stand for what you believe in. (Cheesy Disney moment.) I don't have as much faith as I could in the voting system but when I am old enough I will vote because I want to have a say and also it is the least I can do to thank the suffragettes and suffragists who made it possible for my voice to be heard.
Also I missed Ada Lovelace day this year so I will leave a link to the Delia Derbyshire petition please sign it! Especially if you like Doctor Who.
http://www.thepetitionsite.com/154/789/535/publish-delia-derbyshires-music-from-the-bbc-sound-archive/
(Ada Lovelace day is a day to appreciate great women in history. Delia Derbyshire is my favourite great historical woman. She co wrote the Doctor Who theme tune but because she was a woman she didn't get any credit. She influenced electrical music forever and she deserves recognition.)

Children Feminism and Role Models: Too Many Links! - Children and Gender Part 2
Hi,
So my last post was about children, prejudice and dressing up. This post is about children, prejudice and feminism. But this is a little different; the last post was about dressing up in stereotypical clothes. This is about inspirational role models and dressing up.
This link is about a girl, whose mum encourages her to dress up as great women throughout history instead of Disney princesses:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2323795/Mother-shuns-Disney-Princess-ideal-dresses-daughter-REAL-heroines-history-commemorate-fifth-birthday.html
I think what I said in the last post, explains what I want to say about how important dressing up and playing pretend is to children’s development, and how it will affect who they become. So I will skip all that. But, what I didn't go into much detail about is the demeaning and prejudice (I am using that word a lot) characters that girls are encouraged, or even restricted to dress up as. Disney Princesses included.
This link is about the effects of Disney on society:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsy3BblcjCA
This link is called what Disney princesses teach girls but it is also about what Disney princes teach boys:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yAqgatzuT0
But it isn't just Disney who are using weak female role models. Celebrities and movie characters are often anti feminist and bad for body image.
Cameron Diaz talks about having body hair as a bad thing even though it is natural and OK. shaving etc. is a choice, and she is promoting the idea that it's not OK not to shave:

This is a 'ThosePeskyDames' video about sexism in geek culture.

Basically young girls are dressing up as girly pathetic Disney princesses instead of strong capable women.
This link should some it up:

Kid's Toy Ads - Gender and Children - Children and Gender Part 1
Hi,
Today In our Kleeneze catalogue, we found a dressing up box for children. The ad lookes like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VqsbvG40Ww
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZn_lJoN6PI
Today In our Kleeneze catalogue, we found a dressing up box for children. The ad lookes like this:
The page on the right (Page 33) advertises a product called
"Dress Up Trunk" which sounds like a good idea; A dressing up box for
little children with 5 readymade outfits. You even have a boys or girls option.
But.... all the boy’s
clothes are adventure characters like a pirate, a Native American, a cowboy and
a knight. There is also a fireman outfit which is a career character as well.
The girls outfits on the other hand are all about looking pretty; a model, a movie
star, a princess, a bride and a Ballerina. Although the movie star, the model
and the ballerina, (even the princess at a push) are all careers, every one of
these characters is pretty, pink, and they all have something to do with looking
beautiful. The bride character usually relies on a boy to be groom as well. It
is sexist and demeaning, as it implies that being pretty and getting married is
all a girl should do, and being active and strong is all boys should do. Why can’t
girls be pirates, fire fighters, Native Americans, cowgirls or knights. And why
can’ t boys dress up as Grooms, Princes,
Movie stars, Models and Ballet dancers too. There are so many things to pretend to
be, yet the girls can only be pretty and the boys can only be action heroes.
I dressed up as a
strong action characters when I was little, and I know boys who dressed up as
weaker more dressed up characters, when they played pretend. Why is being a
strong girl or a pretty boy so unusual? Boys can be ballet dancers and girls
can be fire fighters so why can’t they pretend to be these people when they are
small? This is just one example of the way people are made to feel they have to
be a certain way ‘because’ they are male/female. This tells small children that
they must be a pretty and glamorous girl or a strong and adventurous boy; otherwise
they won’t be a proper girl/boy because they are wearing the wrong dressing up
clothes for their gender.
Maybe they should start selling pirate clothes for girls and
ballet clothes for boys. Restricting the character choices is like saying. You’re
a girl so you can’t be a pirate/fire fighter etc. Or you’re a boy so you can’t
be a Ballet dancer/ model etc. Would you tell a child that they can’t be what
they want to be because they are a boy/girl?
I hope that people start to sell dressing up clothes for
children that allows them to be whatever they want. Or maybe they could do
historical characters like black beard, Florence Nightingale, Shakespeare and
Joan of Arc.
This might seem like a small thing but this happens all the
time and people grow up to believe that being a girl restricts you to just
being pretty and sweet all the time and being a boy means you have to be active
and strong.

Hi,
So I don't want to make a really bad excuse for not updating the blog for ages but this excuse is true. The computer was playing up. So I'm sorry its late but here is my 25 Rules For Children post, that I should have posted ages ago.
Hi,
So I saw this link:
And I thought it was so bad that I wrote my own. If its not completely obvious these are sarcastic, and silly, do not take them seriously.
I hope you enjoyed my rules.

Hi,
So I saw this link:
And I thought it was so bad that I wrote my own. If its not completely obvious these are sarcastic, and silly, do not take them seriously.
25
rules for Children
1. Never say please, as you don not want the grown ups to think that you are too good, as they may expect more of you - like doing the washing up!
2. Do not say thank you. If you are too nice they will not be disciplined enough to do whatever you want.
3. Interrupt whenever possible. It shows them who is boss.
4. Do not say things like "Excuse me". They will think they have a choice other than to listen to you.
5. If you want to do something, do not listen to the grown ups. They never understand anything.
6. Do not worry about what your parents like. Make sure they know what YOU like so you can get the best Christmas presents.
7. Do not let your parents know how good they are. Give them a rare smile or a mild grin if you think they've spent enough money on you.
8. If people say "How are you?" tell them all about it, but don't let them tell you about themselves - you haven't got all day.
9. When you have your friends' over instruct them in these rules and even give them a copy to keep.
10. Never knock before entering a room. You need to make people know how important you are and knocking is for small people.
11. When you phone someone make sure that you tell them exactly what you want and if you get interrupted - there is no worse crime!
12. Make sure that they are appreciative of your wonderfulness.
13. If your parents swear make them wash their mouths out. Your ears do not deserve such abuse.
14. Call your parent mean names to make sure they don't get overconfident. Write down the good ones so you can repeat them.
15. Make every day fun and exciting. You only have one life and your parents have already had most of theirs!
16. If a play or show is boring make sure that EVERYONE knows so that they don't make the same mistake again. It's for their own good.
17. If you bump into someone make THEM apologise.
18. Cover your mouth when you sneeze and always make sure that there is an adult nearby to wipe your hand on afterwards.
19. When you walk through a door someone should always hold it for you. If they don't kick up a fuss.
20. If you find your parents working on something, punish them. They shouldn't have time for that as they should be caring for you.
21. If someone asks you a favour you should refuse unless you can benefit.
22. If someone helps you do not thank them. They should do it anyway.
23. Make sure they make your food properly. Do not let them get away with burning or undercooking or any mistakes in anything YOU have to eat.
24. Keep yourself kitted out with an adult and a rucksack (that the adult carries, obviously)at all times so that anything you need when out and about is right at your side.
25. Make sure everything is within reach at mealtimes. You shouldn't have to reach out or ask for anything or risk dipping your sleeves in your perfect meal.

Regrets And Solving Them! Before You Die!
Hi,
Approximately 55.3 million people die each year. I have
written the top 5 regrets in the western world. I am not writing this post to
be sad, about the amount of unhappy people; I am writing it to explain what
people can do, to avoid becoming one of them:
5. I wish I had let myself be happier.
People seem to think that they have no control over their
emotions. This is not true, although people don’t have very much control they
do have some. For example when you smile (Weather you mean it or not.) your
body releases a chemical that makes you feel happy, so smiling (Weather you
mean it or not.) can help you feel happier. Also however hard it is sometimes
people just have to let go and have a good time, this is a choice that will
make people happier so they can “Let themselves be happy.”
4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
When you have an old friend it can seem a bit unimportant,
but friends are so under rated and staying in touch can make life better in the
long run. “If only I had just called her/him once.” Basically take good care of
your friends because one day you could be the one regretting it. People need
friends; in Africa, some western people tried putting a basket of fruit on the
ground and having a race with a group of small children. The first child to
reach the fruit won it all. The children lined up and when the race began they
all held hands and ran to the fruit together, so they all won it. The western
people asked why they had done it, and they said ‘Ubuntu’ which means ‘I am because
we are’ they all depend on each other.
3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.
Obviously people say ‘I will let them have what they want
for a quiet life.’ But is a quiet life better? Also, how many movies have
you seen, which would only have been half an hour long, if the hero/heroine had
just told the love interest how they felt. I know life is not like a movie, but
telling the truth can solve so many problems.
2. I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.
This is a good one as people say that working hard all your
life is a good thing. It is but only if it makes you happy, how many people do
you know who don’t like their jobs. Another way to look at this one is ‘I wish
I had spent more time with my family.’ This is common since so many people work
and their children all go to school all day. Some guy wrote a song about it:
1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true
to myself, not the life others expected of me.
This is the most common regret which is sad because every
Disney movie seems to have this message. Be true to yourself. The problem I
always had with this, is that I didn’t know who ‘Myself’ was. I didn’t know who
to be, so I decided to be true to the person I want to be, rather than the
person I am. Who wants to be true to all their bad habits anyway? So the moral
of this story is watch lots of Disney movies!
Seriously though, if I want to work in McDonalds for the
rest of my life I will, and I’ll be happy. (I don’t want to work in McDonalds
for the rest of my life by the way.) And I will do what I want to do because I
can. What about you?
I got the top 5 regrets from this website, you should check
it out:
So live long and prosper!

Woman Has Baby! (As private eye put it.)
Hi,
So the royal baby has been born, and I would love to rant about the media coverage for that, but I will leave a link below, to a short news article about the media and the baby, and let you make up your own minds on that one.
One of the first things you are taught as a small child fighting with your friends is; don’t fight, just leave them alone and let them be. What parent hasn’t ever said “leave them alone love” to their child? And yet our government of fully grown men and a couple of women seem to stick their noses into other countries business all the time. When they are in the House of Commons they boo and hiss and generally cheer on their favourite politicians.
Remind you of anything?
Basically our country is being run by people who act like kids at a pantomime when they are in meetings. Who are so in touch with ‘ordinary people’ that they can waist more money than ‘ordinary people’ will ever own.
Something else all parents tell their children is don’t interrupt!
And just for fun, a cassetteboy link.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwXr_-_vp9ESo the government are actually not so different from little children and yet they are our leaders. It is so frustrating to see that they obviously don't know what they are doing half the time. When George Osborne was asked how he would prepare for the job of chancellor he said he would buy a book.
Sorry for ranting and leaving so many links I hope they are interesting.
keep calm and carry on
bye

InkyFingers vs LessInkyFingers
Hi,
So you may have noticed that i changed the name of the blog, from InkyFingers to LessInkyFingers. This is because yesterday I googled InkyFingers and everyone and their dog are using that name. So I very imaginatively renamed it LessInkyFingers so that people can identify this blog. I chose Less Inky Fingers because it was simple and I didn’t have to think of anything good. But I would have liked to call it AnonymousInkyFingers except I don’t want to be associated with the group like that. But anonymous is a good name to use for lots of reasons.
Anonymous is the author of many good stories and poems, look in any good poem book and there will be at least one by Anon. Also I wanted to show that this blog isn’t about me, (Well I mean I write it and it is about my opinions but It’s not about me.) It’s about the opinions and ideas I write about. It doesn’t matter what my name is or what I did today. The important thing is, I have opinions and I would like to share them with people who don’t know me. (It sounds weird when I say it like that.) But there you go.
I hope you don't mind my random blog post today, or that i suddenly changed the blog name.
Bye.

When I Grow Up
Hi,
So Andy Murray won Tennis at Wimbledon! Every one has been so obsessed with his victory being 77 years since the last one that they are forgetting the obvious. Although Andy Murray is the first British men's singles champion in 77 years, he is not the first British singles champion in 77 years. In 1977 Virginia Wade won the British women's singles at Wimbledon. But of course she is a women so she doesn't count. Some news reports have said that Andy Murray specifically won the men's singles but they don't ever mention Virginia Wade.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2013/jul/07/andy-murray-wimbledon-2013-novak-djokovic
But some news articles, imply that he was the first British person, to win Wimbledon in 77 years, by not mentioning that he was only the first man to win it.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/tennis/andy-murray-wimbledon-victory-british-2036191
Of course his victory is a historical thing, and he is still a great British Tennis player. But my point is barely anyone is mentioning the women.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/23217393
The men's singles have not been won by a British person in 77 years but the women have won it 4 times in the last 77 years.
This is a common situation, women have plenty of winners, but they aren't taken seriously because they are women. Although sports are a kind of entertainment, for the people who play, manage and aspire to play it, it's a career. And as with any job, sexism is completely out of order. So then why do people think its ok to dismiss female athletes, and only count Britain's sport successes when they are completed by men. Women are told they can do anything, but because of prejudice, and the way sport is organised it separates women and men, and forces women to stay in the shadows just because fewer people accept women's sport as completely legitimate and worth watching.
Of course, our current feminist issues are not all this clear cut. Malala Yousafzai, is currently fighting for the right for girls to go to school in Pakistan, and other countries that don't allow women and men, to live equal lives. She wants girls to be able to have a fair chance at life and a career. She wants girls to go to school! This is a difficult situation because although I completely agree that girls should have the right to an education. I don't think that school should be the only type of education, they have access to. Children in this country are often complaining about the boringness of school and the 'one size fits all' education system, makes it difficult for individuals to grow. So although its incredibly important for Malala's cause to succeed. It is just as important to allow the education system to help all children, including creative individuals. And not just let the children who work well with the current school system strive while the others fail. So feminism and freedom to be your own person are both important to me as I want to be able to choose to be whatever I want when I grow up. I don't want to be limited by crazy sports fans not taking me seriously, or not having a choice of education, or the facility's to learn the skills I need, to pursue the career I want. So although there are people like Malala, fighting for the right for girls like me, to be whoever, and do whatever, we want to. There is still a long way to go, before every person on our earth, can say with full confidence that whoever they are, they have a fair chance at life and careers.
I hope that when I grow up I have a fairer chance.

Inspiration!
Hi,
so writing a blog is fun, but thinking of something to write about every week is easier said than done. Today I decided to tell you about my inspiration for this problem. First I will leave you some links to look at because they are always helpful.
http://sorrelish.blogspot.co.uk/
http://www.firstnews.co.uk/
http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9I30HBMwEKDWLi_3FNecTQ
So I hope these are interesting. I can't put a URL link to talking to my Dad and Mum but I do that a lot too.
I try to write things I am really passionate about, because this is a really good way to get my most important opinions (And genaral anger and frustration with the world) out there. My point is this blog is my way of making a (Very small) difference. So all the subjects I write about have to be important to me, which is why it's so difficult to choose one.
I know this isn't the best blog post but I hope you like the links.

Accutane / Roaccutane / Isotretinoin. Acne Drug Pros And Cons!
Hi,
So I have recently discovered a acne drug called Roaccutane or Accutane in america or Isotretinion. I found out about it when i stubled across a documentary on BBC 3's body beautiful season. Here are links to the video on youtube and the official page on the BBC website.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgpYS33kMVc
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00xxy87
Now the interesting thing is that there are 2 sides of the argument on weather this drug is a miracle treatment or a death sentence. If you Google it or search it on youtube then you can find loads of reviews and information about it. I will give you the good side of the story first. Here is someone with a good experience of Accutane.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY6sIDAUqwM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4GbREyEEOI
So there is no doubt that Accutane is effective and everyone knows that it is a strong treatment, its serious stuff. Accutane was originally a skin cancer treatment but when they found it helped acne they started to sell it specifically for acne as well. It makes your skin really dry and after a certain amount of time (There are various different Accutane corses) the acne dissappears. It does what is says it will do. But they do make you sign a form saying there is a tiny chance of suicidal thoughts, so they warn you. There are other side affects that they warn you about but many people only suffer mildly or not at all.
The other side of the argument is that Accutane can and probably will ruin your life, forever. Here are some people talking about bad effects etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMld7Dtpqbk
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX5etVb1eXc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2tm62inJDSg
The other argument is that Accutane is a seriously bad drug which should be banned from legal use and that the people who sell it should be sued. (The opposing arguments are both very strong and there are dedicated belivers on both sides.) While people are on Accutane they are given regular blood tests, pregnancy tests (Because it causes birth defects.) and genaral checkups. The side effects of Accutane can vary alot but here are some common effects.
Dryness of the skin and mucus membranes.
Miscarriage and severe birth defects.
Depression, anxiety and suicide.
Makes your skin sensitive to the sun - Photosesitivity.
High blood Triglycerides - Fatty blood.
Thinning hair.
Decreased night vision.
Fatigue.
Nausea and vomiting.
Headaches.

Blurred vision.
Hearing loss or ringing in your ears.
loss of appetite.
jaundice.
Diahrrea.
Flu symptoms.
Fever.
Chills.
Rashes and purple spots under skin.
Etc.
So as you can see there are different sides to this story and there are supporters of both.

The other thing people who are against Accutine say is that the side effects don't stop with the drug. There are a lot of people who believe that the effects of Accutane last not just while your on the drug but also stay with you for months afterwoods or for the rest of your life.
I don't know how Accutane effects people first hand as i have never taken it, but i do have spts and it sucks.
I hope you found this information helpful and interesting.
Bye.
Headaches.
Bone and Joint pain.
Severe chest or abdominal pain.
Difficult or painful swallowing.
Trouble concentrating.
Sleep problems.
hallucinations.
Sudden numbness or weaknss especially on one side of the body.
Blurred vision.
Hearing loss or ringing in your ears.

Unique vs sheep
Hi,
So when it comes to people being who they want to be, the world seems to have a problem. I mean once upon a time, people used to celebrate their differences, but now our differences are the things that break us up. People always want to be the same. Wear the same clothes, use the same kind of Facebook profile picture and talk the same. What happened to individuality? The people who stood out used to be the popular ones, the ones who everyone liked. But now they are the ones being bullied and called geeks, or weirdoes. But they are still the people who grow up to have good jobs and live happy lives because these are the people who don't have to worry about looking cool (Everyone says they’re not cool any way.) They just concentrate on being themselves. So next time someone asks if you like a new song, or the latest fashion don't just say yes because it makes you look cool, actually think about what you like. Otherwise one day you will wake up and realise you don't know who you are, you will see that everything you do is just to look cool. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever fit in and be 'normal', and then I remember that if being 'cool' and 'normal' is wearing that stupid new hairdo, or listening to that boring new song, then I don't want it.
At the same time being just one person all the time is almost impossible. For example the person I am with my family is totally different to the person I am with my friends, and all together I must be about 20 different people depending on who I'm with and what I'm doing. When you are that many different people, it's easy to get lost inside them and not know which of those people you want to be. One of the hardest things to do, is to try to keep doing what you believe is right, whatever person you're being. What I'm trying to say is, whatever happens don't sell out your ideals for a easy life. Sure sometimes it's better to keep your mouth closed, but there are times when however hard it is, you have to stand up for what you believe. And however cheesy that sounds, someone has to care about the things you care about. And if you can't say what you think, then who will?

E45 Lotion Advert in the post!
Hi,
Today we received an advert in the post, for E45 lotion. It is a small black piece of card which folds out and on the front it says “One try and you’ll be hooked” then when you open the front flaps you see a picture of the product and a caption which reads “Your daily fix” Removing the next flap you will see a page with the caption “50p off your next fix of E45 Lotion.” Then the last flap reveals the whole advert with a series of captions; “It’s easy to get hooked on beautifully soft skin.” then “Find your daily fix.” Underneath that it says “Craving something lightly fragranced?” and “Fixated on fragrance free?”
Basically the whole ad is written like it’s talking about drugs. This is strange since it makes ‘getting hooked’ sound like a good thing. This is not only trivialises drug use, but implies that drugs are cool being associated with this product. So the advert designers have just managed to 1. Associate this company with the idea that drugs are cool. 2. Imply to the public that drugs are cool. 3. Trivialise drug use. And 4. Annoy me a lot!
Here are some quotes from the advert:
"It's easy to get hooked on beautifuly soft skin"
"And why shouldn't you? Our range of daily lotions are so light, they let you enjoy the indulgence and nourishment of E45n every single day."
"We're sure that with these samples, plus 50p off any lotion from our new-look range, you'll be hooked in no time."
Would this advert make you want to buy the product?

Entertainment and body image!
Hi,
So there are good movies, songs, TV and magazines that promote positive body image and say that it’s ok to be whatever size and shape you are. There is also a lot of popular negative media about body image. This Pesky Dames video talks about the objectification of ‘page 3’ models in magazines.

The second link is about advertising and negative body image.
I know I talk about body image in the media a lot so today I will talk about the other 3 main categories; movies, songs and TV. The third link is about pop music and the hatred of women.
The movie ‘Lying to be perfect’ is a good place to begin. It gives the message that it’s what’s on the inside that counts and whatever you look like you can still be great. They even talk about the way some larger women are treated differently and disrespectfully because f their size, it also talks about men objectifying women and sexual harassment:
But it also implies that what you look like is one of the most important things and that looking different changes your life, for example all the women are happier and more successful at the end when they are thinner. The film also annoyingly concentrates on the ‘getting thin’ rather than the only briefly mentioned ‘getting healthy’.
Secondly music, a good example of bad body image in music is as the Pesky Dames said, One directions song ‘What makes you beautiful’ as they say ‘ you don’t know your beautiful, that’s what makes you beautiful.’ This implies that it’s attractive to have low self esteem.
Lastly TV! I could go on forever talking about this subject but since I have a life, I won’t. So TV shows, like movies often star thin people who care a lot about how they look. The TV ads are often the bad body image (By the way there are a lot of perfume ads with kissing etc. But when was the last time you saw a gay one?) But don’t get me started on that. The TV I want to concentrate on is reality TV. Most reality TV either stars thin people or laughs at the larger people on the show. Although quiz shows often aren’t too bad the hosts can often be subtly patronising to any larger people on the show for ‘cheep laughs’. The slow motion playback on total wipeout often shows overweight people falling off things or struggling to complete various tasks. The way they play it back they might as well have added sound effects.
The other thing TV shows do is have ‘Best Moments’ episodes were they show people failing over and over again, this is a good place to show all there footage of larger people falling off things in slow motion again.
People don’t understand that being overweight doesn’t mean being under intelligent and until they do people like me will keep trying to explain to people that being ‘fat’ is not a bad thing as long as you are healthy.
Good luck surviving the media.

Government secrets and being a real person.
Hi,
So some ware in the government someone is having an affair, everyone knows about it but no one knows who it is. They say it could be a massive political problem so they are keeping it a secret for now, but if they do reveal who it is they will probably do it when there is other interesting news so they don't make every front page. At first people joked that it might be David Cameron and Ed Milliband but apparently it isn’t someone in the cabinet, I don’t know how they would have dealt with that one cause there is a lot of homophobia and they would have both lost a lot of trust and support. But in France this week the first gay couple were married. Now its legal there will probably be a lot more, but people are still quite angry about it. I think everyone should be allowed to express themselves like the plus size American model who I will talk about in this post. This link is a BBC article about her.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-22508670
She believes that people of all shapes and sizes are beautiful, and that we should aspire to a healthy body rather than a skinny one. The comments made about this article are also interesting, with real women acknowledging the importance of feeling happy about themselves. I also saw a lot of people talking about the way that people pick on naturally skinny people like it’s their fault that they feel bad about their 'not as skinny as you' bodies. Here is the link to the comments page.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-22736496
These pages were definitely inspiring and I am glad that so many people had something positive to say about it. Although I know that they won’t have used everyone’s comment they did give a good impression of the amount of people who know that you can look however you want and its alright.
So you see what i mean.

Teenagers and Writers block!
Hi,
Teenagers are mostly stereotyped as stroppy, hormonal and obsessed with their friends and who they are going out with. Obviously adults must forget what being a teenager is about pretty quickly because although this is partly true there is a lot more to it than that.
I have been a teenager for 3 years and it mostly sucks because of the mood swings and hormones and wanting to fit in. But I am also working out who I want to be. Everything I do will contribute to my personality so teenagers are all laying down the patterns for the rest of their lives. I want to spend the rest of my life doing interesting things like eating chocolate and watching Doctor Who but here are some things I think everyone should do while they are a teenager.
bye
P.S. Sorry this post isn't that good. I am having trouble with the subject that I will be writing about, so I may need to think about it a bit longer before I write a decent blogpost.

1. Watch at least 5 episodes of Doctor Who (Preferably a series.)
2. Learn to do cartwheels or handstands (If you don’t want to then do magic tricks.)
3. Try at least 10 new hobbies before you are 16 because then you always have a backup if your career goes wrong.
4. Get your own Pet.
5. Write down 5 things you think people should do before they become, ‘Not a teenager’ and post them on the Internet.
So if you havent done any one of these things yet then hurry up! bye

Feminism and single parents.
Hi,
Feminism is a word that some of people associate with crazy women who hate men or Margaret Thatcher. But that's not what feminism is about. Another misunderstanding is that feminism is no longer relevant today.
I will explain why feminism is still relevant.
First, Feminists are people who believe in equal rights for men and women, so anyone who says they think one sex is better, is not a feminist. Second Margaret Thatcher said "The battle for women’s rights has largely been won I owe nothing to women’s lib and I hate feminism It is poison."
You get the idea.
Now my main point is that feminism is still relevant today. There is a new law that the government (Supposedly) want to bring in that prevents people on benefits including single parents from voting. I can't find anything from the UK on it but I have found an American article about it.
http://ontd-political.livejournal.com/10165355.html
This article says "What about single parents? The concept doesn’t change. In this day and age, it’s usually the parent’s choices (exception: rape) that created the kid in the first place. If an individual’s marriage ends in divorce, that would be their choice as well. If this caused the need for government benefits, then through their choices they ended up being the ones not allowed to vote."
Well, first let me say that the majority of single parents are women and if you see a single man with children most people would assume he was widowed. So let’s go for a common story. A couple have children they are happy, then the father meets someone he wants to leave, his wife can't stop him, she is not happy about the divorce which is forcing her to stay at home and look after the kids instead of work, she goes on benefits, and her husband has his own life now and plenty of time to work. He can afford to vote, she can't because she is on benefits. Sexist!
There are loads of other feminist issues and feminism is definatly still relevant I am just giving you one example.

The Ideal Body
The Ideal Body
I wanted to Show you a power point presentation, but i can't, so I'm doing this post the best i can without it.
All Lies
Quotes
•ScienceDaily (Mar. 27, 2007) — The rail-thin blonde bombshell on the cover of a magazine makes all women feel badly about their own bodies despite the size, shape, height or age of the viewers. A new University of Missouri-Columbia study found that all women were equally and negatively affected after viewing pictures of models in magazine ads for just three minutes.
•Unlimited options to "fix" every "problem," with knives, needles, or lasers—not to mention Photoshop—have created a standard of beauty (Bambi eyelashes! moonlike white teeth!) practically guaranteed to make you want to shatter your mirror.
•Disappointing: Survey Says...Women Are Prouder Of Boobs Than Brains
Feeling Bad
Quotes
•The current "airbrushing" culture leads to huge self-esteem problems – half of all 16- to 21-year-old women would consider cosmetic surgery and in the past 15 years eating disorders have doubled.
•We don't even know we hate our bodies because we take that for granted.
•We see around 5,000 photoshopped images a week.
•Is this the industry taking responsibility for our broken body image, for its power? Acknowledging that they help sell not only clothes, but ideas of which bodies are acceptable?
Feeling Good
Quotes
•When I know that beauty is subjective, that nothing terrible would happen if I put on weight, when my desk is covered in annotated research on bodies, do I still feel bad about the way I look? Because none of us lives in a vacuum," she said. Simply acknowledging the pressure doesn't eliminate it.
•Just because someone's not a size 10 it doesn't mean she's a bad person.
•On one hand they're saying 'love your body', then on the other 'fat's bad, the worst thing you could do is be obese. The message 'be healthy and do exercise' is a bit different from 'be happy in your skin', isn't it?
Positive
Basically be happy whatever size you are.
But its so easy to lie!
Thanks
